Update: new weight and some tips

So I'm an impatient person. I can't wait until Sunday to weigh myself with the scale staring me in my face every day in the bathroom. I'm reeally trying hard not to weigh myself every single day because that would be a little obssessive (or prudent maybe?).

But I've gone and done it and the news is good! I have to update my stats a bit, because my last post was so shaming.

Weight
Previous: 170lbs
New: 165lbs

Waist
Previous: 34"
New: 33"

So yay, 5lbs and 1 inch. I'm saving the other measurments for later, but frankly I doubt that anything else would have changed.

Now what am I eating, you may be wondering?  I drink a lot of water, that's important. Every morning for breakfast I eat large flake oatmeal with semi-skim milk (I would drink skim but I don't have a choice right now about that). I top it with some sliced almonds. It's very filling. I would recommend eating a piece of fruit to supplement that, like a nice grapefruit or an apple.  Large flake is important because that means it hasn't been processed. It takes a little bit longer to cook but it is much higher in fibre and fibre is very filling.

Lately I've been waking up too late to have 3 major meals (I've been getting up around lunch time), but when I do have time I try to make sure to get a lot of vegetables in.  I bought a large bag of baby carrots and I snack on those when I'm hungry. I also bought non-fat, no sugar yogurt (Silhouette, Yoplait's Source for example) for some sweet stuff. The past two days I've also had popcorn, but I popped it fresh from the kernel in a pot (no microwave popcorn) with corn oil and salt- no butter.

For dinner, I eat a lot of vegetables. I love having 2 bags of Arctic Gardens' steamed vegetables, with some meat.  Last night I made a large salad with red leaf lettuce, matchstick carrots (you can buy it already done), red kidney beans and a sprinkle of feta cheese. Add some balsamic vinaigrette and it's delicious. I had that with some baked chicken and a few(!) pieces of baked potatoes. Ideally, I would eat the salad with grilled chicken breast, but my griller is enroute to Canada right now so I don't have that option. And try to avoid potatoes wherever possible! I just couldn't resist.

Last thing, the bread I eat (when I do eat bread) is stone ground whole wheat for the fibre content.  I only eat ONE slice at a time.  One slice of bread is 120 calories. Just think about that!
